One of the Otaru's Delicacies

When you visit Otaru in Hokkaido, what kind of food would like to try?
Sushi? Ramen? Jingisukan (Genghis Kahn, the lamb barbecue)? They are all very good, and should certainly be counted as Otarus delicacies.
However, have you tried fish cake? It comes in variety of flavors and shapes. It usually makes an ingredient in Japanese cooking like O-den or Japanese hotchpotch, but it is also very good as a snack. If you go to Nantaru Market where is about 8-minute-walk from JR Minami Otaru Station, you will find a shop selling varieties of fresh fried fish cake in a reasonable price.
Kamaei and Kurihara are the leading manufacturers and retailers of fish cake in Otaru. Kamaei has a fish cake factory and their retail shop along Rinkosen Street, and Kurihara has a shop in Irifune Market in addition to their main shop at Irifune Jujigai.
Fish cake made from Otarus fresh seafood is realy good.
I hope that you will try it if you have a chance.
