Thank you for your interest in GLOTAL project. GLOTAL stands for Global + Otaru + Local, and Otaru is a beautiful port city located in the north of Japan. This project aims at suggesting interesting information about Otaru for all Hokkaido or Japan lovers in the world.
Why GLOTAL?
Otaru is one of the most popular tourist destinations in Japan. You can get a lot of tourist information about this city by searching at Google or Yahoo!, however really useful informaion are often in Japanese only. You can actually get information from the internet, but many of them are written by people who do not live in this city. Live infromation are scarce and first-hand information in English by local people are absolutely lacking.
We thought that it would be useful for both locals and visitors if there is a method that enables local people to transmit their live information into the world in English through the internet. This idea is a starting point of GLOTAL project.
Our Goal
We aim at providing tools and services for facilitating distribution of useful information about Otaru, and ultimately contribute to the vitality of this city -- our hometown -- through this projet.
